Social Context: In Nov of 2004 my parents decided they wanted to end their 22 year marriage and because it was such a messy divorce social services stepped in to take my 17 yr old sister. Due to the fact that she was so close to 18 foster homes were not an option for her. This left me being the only responsible person to take her on until she reached 18. At 20 years old I had become an instant mother of a teenager.

Bookmark: Being thrown into this situation had a major effect on my life. Not only did it ruin the sibling relationship I had with my sister it placed a huge amount of stress on my marriage. It was however a learning expierence for me and made me have compassion for anyone raising a teenager no matter what age they are.
Social Context: From the age of 19-21 I struggled with a severe addiction to cocaine. The call of being cool and in the in crowd with the people I was hanging with took ahold of me and took me to one of the darkest places in my life.

Bookmark: Although I am not proud of the fact that I let this kind of addiction get a hold of me I can proudly say that I came, I saw, I conqured. This experience in my life opened a window for me of what I didn't want for my life. I believe that having this expierence in my life showed me what I wanted for my life.
